I had a lot of fun (perhaps too much) writing and testing the "low BAC" hackathon entry for the Ford Smart Vehicle Connectivity Challenge. This project won one of the honourable mentions awards ($150 Amazon gift card)! The basic idea is an IoT device that is used to unlock & start your vehicle, but it uses an MQ-3 sensor to estimate the Blood Alcohol Level of the user and only unlocks and starts the vehicle if the user hasn't had too much to drink.
It was my first time using the Arduino cloud, which enables your IoT device to communicate with the cloud. Clearly it was still in prototype phase and not shrunk down into something reasonable, like a key fob.
I'll probably use some of the winnings to buy an IoT device that uses SIM data card instead of WIFI, since that unlocks more possibilities for me in future projects.
