I was able to replace my clicky relay with a BTA24-600B Triac and a few components I had laying around the house (resistors, potentiometer, CdS cell and a LED). The result is a circuit that can turn on and off the 110 volt outlet without making any sound (and the 110-volt AC circuit is isolated from my 5-volt logic circuit.) It was my first time using a Triac, so I was really happy when it actually worked.
