I was at the Tulsa Flee Market last weekend and I found an Atari 2600 game cartridge on sale for $5. The game was "Big Bird's Egg Catch" which was released in 1983. You can see that the cartridge is a little old (luckily I already had the Atari 2600, so I didn't have to shop for that too.)

9 seconds into the ad, you can see a picture of the controller that was used with the game...
Surprise -- I don't own the "Atari 2600 Kids Controller", but luckily I bought a grab bag of parts from Vetco last month that just happened to have both male & female DB9 connectors and resistors -- the perfect parts for making an adapter, so I can play with my existing joystick.

That grab bag made all kinds of squares on the TSA scanner, but luckily I was able to keep it all. I think it helped that I gave the really pointy stuff, like the soldering iron, to a friend. The adaptor plugs into the back of the Atari and then exposes a connection for the joystick to connect to.

For your viewing entertainment, here is an embarrassing video of me trying to play the game while filming it with my phone...
